Moor Beer Company
Location: Bristol
Head Brewer: Justin Hawke
Moor Beer was reborn in 2007 when Californian brewer Justin Hawke purchased the defunct Somerset-based business and transformed it into one of the worldโs top-rated breweries. Named after the Levels and Moors area where it began, Moor Beer relocated to central Bristol in 2014, setting up a taproom and shop behind Temple Meads Station, where visitors can enjoy tours and tastings. Their success continued to grow, and in 2017 they expanded to Londonโs famous Bermondsey Beer Mile, bringing their distinctive beers to an even wider audience.
At Moor, the philosophy is simple โ the beers are always live, always natural, and always vegan-friendly. Natural fermentation and carbonation with live yeast sit at the heart of every brew, creating a unique texture, depth of flavour, and softness that canโt be achieved through faster, more industrial processes. Moor pioneered the unfined, vegan beer movement in the UK, rejecting isinglass finings to preserve the natural integrity of their beers. Their brewing style combines the German love of naturally hazy beer, the bold, flavour-forward spirit of American craft brewing, and the British tradition of secondary refermentation. The result is beer thatโs full-flavoured, aromatic, and beautifully balanced โ crafted for pure drinkability and enjoyment.
